I’ve been inactive on the blog for a few months now and I had almost certainly come to the conclusion that I was going to quit for good, focusing more on my business (which I don’t have enough time for as it is) and family life. HOWEVER, little things just kept popping up. I wanted to shout to the world about how great something was but no longer had a way of doing it. The blogosphere is just such a great way to do that. Even if I inspire only one person, it will make a difference.
So what finally brought me back? Seeing this:
It was the confirmation that I had taken an “eco leap of faith” and pre-purchased four boxes of Ecoriginals eco disposable nappies, of which I’ve only seen a prototype, because I believe in the product. I want it to work. I want this new company to be successful. I met the owner at the Perth Baby & Children Expo (I went to the expo just to see this particular product!) and I was excited about it. I was excited to see my friend (three weeks away from giving birth) get excited about it. The owner told me how her and her husband are taking a huge cut in their margin in order to make the product as affordable as their mainstream (plastic/bad/environmental disaster) counterparts. I said in reply “so you can save the planet” and although she laughed and thought I was being jokingly dramatic, I kinda wasn’t. People like that WILL save the world.
So, with that, I’m back in the blogosphere. I won’t be putting too much pressure on myself to be ‘the next big thing’ or even successful. But I’ll be present. And I’ll have fun
P.S. In case you’re wondering – whilst I still solely use cloth nappies during the day, I use one disposable nappy on my toddler son at night because he kept leaking through the cloth night nappy – and in order to make it absorbant enough he had to have something like 20 layers – which for a tummy sleeper is just not comfortable for him. I am VERY excited to have an affordable eco-disposable solution!
