Here’s a photo of me on New Year’s eve playing around with shutter priority and a mobile phone screen for light!
Happy New Year!
I hope you enjoyed the break. I certainly did! I also made one very simple resolution. To be happy. To do only what makes me happy. To make my family happy. Having a clean and tidy house with a happy partner and baby makes my partner PJ happy. Spending lots of one on one time with Baby E makes him happy. Photography and crafting makes me happy. So that’s what we need to do.
I’m not sure where blogging will fit in to this resolution. I’ve been uncertain about the future of this blog lately as I simply don’t have much time for it. However, every time I think like that the universe pushes me to keep going. Like before Christmas I was ready to give it up but a few days later I was contacted by a journalist from the local Community Newspaper Group who had found my blog and asked for my assistance in writing an article about having a thrifty Christmas. I was pretty stoked. So for now I will keep on going, keep on trying to inspire people, and keep motivating myself to share my ideas and adventures on this blog!
Hip hooray for 2013! It’s going to be a really fun year!

i like your resolution, Kat. it’s the best kind. happy new year to you and yours xx

I love your blogs, they’re so enjoyable to read, always full with positive energy, enthusiasm and great ideas. Keep on blogging I say, even if you can only do it every so once in a while. Your blogs = moments of sunshine and sunny days always make you happy!

Happy New Year Kat! Reading your blog makes me happy
I randomly check it to see what you’re up to, and I always walk away feel inspired and glad to know there are people like you out there who care about our world enough to try and encourage others to do the same. May you always enjoy happiness x
Thank you Amy! I’m glad to hear that kind of feedback

Hi Kat,
I just wanted to say if possible (without putting youself under duress), please, please continue your blog, I only discovered it recently and I just love it.
In fact, you inspired my whole family’s christmas – finally a first REAL push in getting my relations on board with moving away from consumerism!
… Mum and I spent weeks hand decorating assorted bottles and jars for candles and flowers as table decorations (I also replicated some of your ideas using pages from old books); I made home-made relish (from are over-enthusiastic cherry-tomato bush) and rocky road for the adults; I hand made my christmas cards; wrapped gifts in brown recycled paper tied with dyed hemp string string or any pretty ribbon or material I could find; and most of the children’s gifts were from second-hand stores.
Everyone had a great day and it got some of my more ‘materialistic guests’ in the spirits!
I’m sure I’m just one example of how your blog is able to impact other people’s lives or special occasions in a really positive way.
So if possible, please keep up the awesome work!
Thank you so much Rebecca! Even influencing one person is enough to make me want to do more!
